About the Event 1. Listen to Your Mind, Heart and Body: Management of Cardiovascular Disease & Stroke Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke remain the leading global burdens of mortality and long-term disability, driven by the shared systemic pathology of atherosclerosis and vascular dysfunction. While acute medical interventions such as stenting and thrombolysis are critical for initial survival, true functional recovery and sustainable secondary prevention rely heavily on lifestyle modifications and physical rehabilitation. This presentation explores the complete vascular care continuum, mapping the trajectory from primary risk mitigation to hyperacute emergency protocols and long-term recovery. This session will also highlight the role of physiotherapists in patient care during a cardiac and stroke event across all phases of patient care. 2. Building the Foundations that Protect Heart and Brain Health Cardiovascular disease and stroke do not result from one habit in isolation. This session explains how exercise, muscle building, nutrition, everyday physical activity and sleep work together to influence risk over time. Participants will learn what each pillar contributes, how improving one area can support the others, and how to prioritise realistic changes within their current lifestyle. This programme is held in collaboration with Singapore Physiotherapy Association. Speakers' Profiles 1. Vasoda Devi (SPC) Vasoda is an experienced, community-based Physiotherapist dedicated to helping patients reclaim their physical independence. Throughout her distinguished career, she has accumulated extensive clinical expertise across acute care hospitals, private hospital and private daycare facilities. This diverse background has given her deep insights into the continuum of care for individuals recovering from strokes, complex neurological conditions, and acute cardiovascular events. In her current role within community health, Vasoda focuses on the holistic, long-term rehabilitation of patients managing multiple complex chronic diseases. She excels at bridging the gap between clinical stabilization and functional recovery in the home environment. 2. Anwar Bin Asger Ali Anwar Bin Asger Ali is the Principal Physiotherapist at Horizon Wellness Club. With close to 11 years of experience, he helps working adults understand how exercise, strength, nutrition, body composition, sleep and daily movement shape their health over time. His work focuses on helping people act earlier: before risk factors progress, when health markers begin to change, and while managing established conditions. He translates clinical knowledge into practical choices that fit real working lives. His speaking style is interactive. Participants leave with clear actions they can begin applying immediately.
