About the Event 1. Move, Recover, Reconnect: The Role of Physiotherapy in Neurological Rehabilitation Neurological conditions can affect not only the individual, but also their families, caregivers and wider community. Stroke in particular can occur suddenly and may result in difficulties with walking, balance, strength and everyday activities. At the same time, physical inactivity and cardiovascular risk factors are closely relevant to stroke prevention and long-term health. Understanding the importance of movement and physical activity can therefore benefit people both before a neurological event occurs and during recovery afterwards. This session will help the audience understand what neurological rehabilitation involves, what physiotherapy can contribute, and how physical activity can be incorporated safely into everyday life. 2. Hope After Stroke: The Journey of Recovery at Home and in the Community A stroke can happen suddenly and change life in ways that many people never expect. Difficulties with walking, balance, movement, speech, thinking, and everyday activities can make even simple tasks challenging. Yet recovery does not end when a person leaves the hospital. In fact, some of the most important rehabilitation happens at home and within the community. This session will explore the role of physiotherapy and neurorehabilitation in improving mobility, balance, confidence, independence and quality of life after stroke. Participants will gain a better understanding of what recovery looks like, why continued rehabilitation matters and how family members and caregivers can play an active role in supporting the recovery journey. This programme is held in collaboration with Singapore Physiotherapy Association. Speakers' Profiles 1.
