Keynote Speech by Guest of Honour Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Education & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment Panelists: Chia Ko Wen, Head of Sustainability, Singlife Dr Dee Chia, Deputy Director, Audience Development, National Gallery Singapore Jayastri Narayanan, Assistant Director, Conservation & Science, WWF Singapore Joline Tong, Founder, The Sustainability Project Moderated by Koh Mun Chan (Kahmy), Sustainability Consultant, Schneider Electric What if the things we throw away could tell us something about the world we’re building? Singapore is clean. What happens to the waste we don’t see? And what would it take to move beyond simply throwing things away towards creating a future where nature, people and our everyday lives can thrive together? Inspired by New Life by Bordalo II, a new art landmark sustainability initiative centred around a large-scale sculpture at Gardens by the Bay, this inaugural New Life Youth Forum brings young people into the conversation on waste, biodiversity, conservation, climate change and sustainability. And we’re not just talking about recycling. ♻️ Can we rethink our relationship with consumption? 🌏 What does Singapore’s waste problem have to do with nature and biodiversity? 🎨 Can art change the way we see environmental issues? 💼 What responsibility do businesses have in creating a more sustainable future? 🌱 And where do young people fit into all of this? ✨ What to expect: Join voices from government, conservation groups, businesses and the arts as we explore the challenge of waste — and ask what it would take to “untrash” nature together. 🗣️ A panel conversation An honest and accessible discussion on Singapore’s waste challenge, sustainability and the choices that shape our environment. 🎨 Art meets sustainability Discover how Bordalo II transforms discarded materials into powerful works of art that spark conversations about our relationship with nature. During the forum, we will also screen the New Life campaign video, offering a closer look at his creative process and the story behind the New Life sculpture. 🌿 Perspectives across sectors Hear different perspectives, discover new ideas and explore how we can come together across sectors to create meaningful change. 🤝 Connect & explore Meet fellow young people and explore showcase booths featuring organisations working on sustainability in their own ways. This is the first of five New Life Forums, bringing young people together over the coming months to explore biodiversity, conservation, sustainability and climate change from different perspectives. Come curious. Come with questions. Come ready to rethink what “waste” means. Because maybe creating a better tomorrow starts with seeing what we throw away a little differently.
