About the Event This programme is suitable for adults. Living with chronic illness can mean moving through the world on hard mode. What helps you get through the day, recover your energy and make space for yourself? There is no single right way to pause, just as there is no single way to live well with chronic illness. Join Resilient Living Singapore for an interactive evening designed to help you explore different ways of supporting yourself, without the pressure to overhaul your life or find the perfect wellness routine. Across four activity rounds, choose from practical experiences organised around four themes: CHECK IN Pause and notice what is happening in your mind and body, and what you might need right now. MOVE & RELEASE Explore different ways of moving, strengthening or easing tension while respecting changing energy, mobility and capacity. SLOW & SOOTHE Discover sensory and self-care practices that create moments to slow down, settle and give yourself some attention. SUPPORT EVERYDAY LIFE Explore practical approaches to nourishment, emotional wellbeing and everyday habits that can make life a little more manageable. You do not need to try everything. Choose the experiences that feel relevant to you, adapt them to your needs, observe if you prefer, or simply take a break. At the end of the evening, bring together what worked for you to Build Your Support Toolkit: a small collection of practices, ideas and forms of support that you can draw on according to your needs, circumstances and capacity. Come as you are. Try what interests you. Keep what helps. About the Facilitator Nicole Chan is the founder of Resilient Living Singapore, a patient-led community created to make everyday life with chronic illness feel a little less isolating and a little more manageable. Living with rheumatoid arthritis herself, Nicole understands that some of the hardest parts of chronic illness often happen outside the clinic, in work, relationships, routines, energy and the small decisions that shape daily life. In her day job, she works in communications, and she brings what she learns there into Resilient Living, using storytelling, programme design and community engagement to create useful resources, conversations and experiences for the community. This programme is part of Thrive@Libraries 2026 (https://nlb.libcal.com/calendar?t=g&q=thrive%40libraries&cid=11498&cal=11498&inc=0). Thrive@Libraries 2026 Thrive@Libraries aims to re-introduce adults to the rich diversity of NLB resources, programmes, and services while celebrating reading as a way to live well. It features a flagship showcase event at Funan B2 Atrium from 13-15 November 2026, complemented by in-library programmes running from November 2026 to January 2027. Permission to Pause This year's theme is an invitation to busy working adults to view libraries as a space to pause and discover their interests through NLB's resources. Discover ways you can pause ─ to read, to play, and to connect. ReadSG This festival is part of ReadSG. NLB's national movement to make reading a lifelong habit and a shared culture that nurtures curious minds, critical thinkers and informed citizens. The ReadSG Challenge is NLB's national reading initiative that invites Singaporeans to rediscover the joy of reading through a simple daily reading habit. All it takes is 15 minutes a day to build a reading habit. That's about the time between three MRT stops, waiting for your bus, or enjoying your morning coffee. Click here (https://www.read.gov.sg/join-the-readsg-challenge)to find out where reading 15 minutes a day can take you! Registration and Attendance Registration is required for this programme.
