About the Event Families join Sue from Sue’s Splashy Surprise: A Pond-ering Adventure on a hands-on learning adventure inspired by her curiosity, exploration and problem-solving. Through selected moments from the story, children explore a pond environment, observe animals and investigate simple ideas such as movement, patterns, counting and how living things interact with their surroundings. Building on the story, families take part in interactive movement and mathematics activities before using the VEX 123 Robot to complete story-inspired challenges. Children practise sequencing, directions, counting and logical thinking as they plan a route, test their instructions and make improvements to help the robot navigate different pond-themed scenarios. The workshop combines storytelling, science, mathematics and computational thinking in a playful family experience. Through collaborative challenges, children and parents are encouraged to observe carefully, think creatively, communicate their ideas and learn from trial and error — much like Sue’s own adventures. Sue’s Splashy Surprise : A Pond-ering Adventure can be found in the national library and its branches. This programme is suitable for children aged 5 to 8 years old. Registration and Attendance Registration is required for this programme. Please register one ticket per person. Each ticket admits one participant only and does not cover a parent–child pair. Attendance will be taken using the NLB Mobile app. Please download the app (https://go.gov.sg/nlbmobile-attendance) or update it to the latest version. Then, scan the QR code at the venue to take your attendance upon entry. Parents attending with children: please add your child’s profile in the NLB Mobile app before arriving, so you can include their attendance in the submission. It is compulsory for parents or caregivers to accompany their children during the programme. Please arrive 15 minutes before the session starts.
