About the Event This programme is suitable for adults. SG60 Voices from the Heart is a community storytelling movement celebrating Singapore’s 60th year by amplifying voices that are often unheard. It is a live platform where everyday people step onto the stage to share real stories of resilience, struggle, hope, and transformation. In a world that often highlights titles and achievements, this initiative brings us back to what truly connects us—our human experiences. Each session gathers speakers from different walks of life to speak honestly about their journeys, reminding us that behind every face is a story worth telling. Organised under SG60 Voices from the Heart, each volume is designed as a themed gathering of courage, reflection, and connection—where stories become bridges between strangers. GREEN VOICES EDITION Eight Speakers. Eight Perspectives. One Sustainable Future. Green Voices brings together eight speakers to explore how sustainability and climate action can become part of our everyday lives. From carbon and Singapore's Green Plan to electricity, lifestyle choices and waste reduction, the programme looks at practical actions we can take at home, in our communities and in our daily lives. Climate change is a global challenge, but action can begin locally. Green Voices aims to inspire people to think differently about the way we use energy, consume resources, manage waste and live our daily lives. Because every home has a role to play. Every action counts. Every voice matters. Let our Green Voices be heard. About the Facilitators SG60 Voices from the Heart is co-founded and facilitated by Sebastian Chen and Dr Nik Chong, who both lead the movement as storytelling facilitators and community builders. Together, they are not just organisers—they actively shape the experience on the ground: Sebastian Chen is a community storyteller, speaker, and author who focuses on helping everyday people turn lived experiences into meaningful narratives. He is also the creator of The Cockroach Way, and often speaks about resilience, adaptation, and human struggle. His facilitation style is energetic, story-driven, and focused on helping speakers find courage to speak honestly and simply. Dr Nik Chong works alongside Sebastian as a co-facilitator and anchor for the platform. He is often involved in curating speakers, guiding the flow of sessions, and ensuring each event creates a safe, reflective space for storytelling. His approach is grounded, calm, and structured—balancing the emotional energy of the stories with clarity and presence. As facilitators of SG60 Voices from the Heart, both of them share a common mission: to create a space where ordinary voices become powerful stories, and where listening becomes just as important as speaking. Together, they hold the space so that stories of resilience, loss, growth, and hope can be shared authentically—without performance, just presence. From Human Impact (Sustainability) Toastmasters Club (TMC) Philip Tay JT is a member of TMC in Singapore. Passionate about climate change and sustainability, he is the project leader for a climate-themed book ‘Green Your Home: Guide to an Eco-friendly Household’, written by members of TMC in Singapore. He retired in 2010 as Group Chief Technology Officer of MediaCorp, where 43 years of his rewarding and successful career spanned. He was Chairman of Singapore National Digital TV committee that brought HDTV to Singapore homes. He was awarded the ABU Industry Excellence for his role in promoting digital TV to the ASEAN region. In 2022, he was inducted into the Singapore Press Club Hall of Fame for his significant and lasting contributions to the media profession and industry.
