About the Event Step into the role of a young engineer and discover how creative ideas can be transformed into purposeful, sustainable designs! In this hands-on workshop, children will explore key engineering concepts such as structure, stability, joining and strengthening as they work through the process of imagining, building, testing and improving their own creations. They will be challenged to think creatively about how everyday materials can be redesigned and given a new purpose instead of being thrown away. Using cardboard together with Makedo’s child-friendly saws, screwdrivers and fasteners, participants will experiment with different construction techniques before developing imaginative creations—from quirky creatures to useful household helpers. Through building, problem-solving and prototyping, children will develop spatial thinking, creativity and confidence while experiencing how engineers and designers turn simple materials into meaningful solutions. A fun introduction to engineering design, sustainable making and the power of turning ideas into reality! This programme is suitable for children aged 5-8 years old, is age appropriate and requires registration. Registration and Attendance Registration is required for this programme. Please register one ticket per person. Each ticket admits one participant only and does not cover a parent–child pair. Attendance will be taken using the NLB Mobile app. Please download the app (https://go.gov.sg/nlbmobile-attendance) or update it to the latest version. Then, scan the QR code at the venue to take your attendance upon entry. Parents attending with children: please add your child’s profile in the NLB Mobile app before arriving, so you can include their attendance in the submission. It is compulsory for parents or caregivers to accompany their children during the programme. Please arrive 15 minutes before the session starts.
