About the Session: What Does Caring Really Cost? What does caring mean to you? Is it the quiet discipline of caring for yourself—setting boundaries, finding rest, or choosing to heal? Or is it the often-unseen act of caring for someone else: a parent, a partner, a child, or even someone you struggle to love? We invite you to join us in a safe, in-person space to share your experiences and hear from others. There are no scripts or expectations. Just honest conversations about the many faces of care: its joys, challenges, and everything in between. Because caring isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it’s heavy, sometimes it’s complicated. But it is always deeply human. Come as you are. Whether you'd like to speak or simply listen, all are welcome. Let’s explore what it truly means to care—for ourselves, and for others. About The Literary Salon In the 17th to 19th centuries, Parisian literary salons brought writers, artists, and thinkers together to exchange ideas. In this tradition, The Literary Salon at NLB is a gathering of curious minds exploring a shared theme. Through conversation and personal reflection, each session is a collective literary experience shaped by the stories participants bring with them. This programme is suitable for seniors. Time of Your Life (TOYL) Celebration 2026 Join us from Oct 2026 – Mar 2027 to immerse yourself in nostalgic exhibitions, learn something new from our programmes, and take part in activities that rekindle the joy of a good read. Whether you’re looking to explore a topic you've always been curious about or simply meet others who share your love of learning, we have something for everyone. ReadSG This programme is part of ReadSG. NLB's national movement to make reading a lifelong habit and a shared culture that nurtures curious minds, critical thinkers and informed citizens. The ReadSG Challenge is NLB's national reading initiative that invites Singaporeans to rediscover the joy of reading through a simple daily reading habit. All it takes is 15 minutes a day to build a reading habit. That's about the time between three MRT stops, waiting for your bus, or enjoying your morning coffee. Click here (https://www.read.gov.sg/join-the-readsg-challenge) to find out where reading 15 minutes a day can take you! Read more, Be more.
