About the Programme The Abilities Unlocked Series spotlights the lived experiences, skills, and talents of persons with disabilities, strengthening self-advocacy through inclusive programmes. This activity-based workshop introduces participants to the early stages of plant growth through a fun, hands-on seed sorting and planting experience. Led by trainees from Bizlink Centre’s BLOOMERS programme, participants will explore a variety of seeds and beans while engaging in guided sorting and planting tasks. Using simple tools such as tweezers, participants will practice coordination, focus, and sensory exploration while learning how seeds begin their growth journey. BLOOMERS trainees will demonstrate each step—from identifying different seed types to placing them into germination trays—and guide participants through the activity in a supportive and inclusive manner. Participants can expect: An introduction to how seeds germinate and grow into vegetables Demonstration of hands-on seed sorting activity using different types of beans and seeds Demonstration of how to use the simple “Grow-at-Home” seed starting kit At the end of the session, participants will also be invited to: A hands-on seed sorting activity using different types of beans and seeds (on their tables) View a display of seed varieties and early-stage seedlings such as Cai Xin, Xiao Bai Cai, and Lettuce Interact with BLOOMERS trainees and take photos Receive a simple “Grow-at-Home” seed starting kit to continue their learning journey This programme is designed to be therapeutic, engaging, and accessible for a wide range of participants, including children, seniors, and individuals who benefit from sensory-based activities. About the Organisation Bizlink Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting persons with disabilities and persons in recovery from mental health conditions, through training and employment. BLOOMERS is an inclusive urban farming and therapeutic work programme that uses hydroponics as a platform for skill development, confidence building, and work readiness. Participants are guided through structured, step-by-step tasks—from seed preparation to harvesting—providing meaningful engagement and a pathway towards employment. Registration and Attendance Registration is required for this programme. Please register one ticket per person. Then, scan the QR code at the venue to take your attendance upon entry. Please arrive 10 minutes before the session starts. Seats may be released to walk-in participants if you arrive late.
